Question: Is BOTOX new?
Answer:

Allergan’s BOTOX® product is the only one of its type with over 10 years of successful clinical experience in therapeutic conditions.

The American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and National Institutes of Health have endorsed BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) as a valuable treatment.

Question: What Does Laser Acne Treatment Feel Like?
Answer: Treatments generally have the sensation of a rubber band. For those who find this uncomfortable, a numbing topical anesthetic cream can be used.

Question: What Lasers Are Used For Acne?
Answer:

There are 2 basic groups of acne treating lasers and light based systems. One group of technologies inhibits the growth of the bacteria that is involved in acne lesions. The other group of lasers shrink the sebaceous oil glands that play a pivotal role in acne.

Theses approaches can also improve the quality of acne scars. We will often use more than 1 laser or light based system to optimize the acne clearing benefits of these devices. Because we have multiple different acne improving systems, we will use those technologies we feel most appropriate for the particular patient's condition.

Question: Why Seek Laser Treatment For Acne?
Answer:

Acne is generally successfully treated with a variety of topical and oral medications. Inflammatory acne often requires the chronic use of antibiotics by mouth.

Laser treatment can usually lead to a lessening of the amount of required antibiotics. Laser treatment can improve not only the inflamed acne, but also leads to improvement in acne scars.

Question: Can dermabrasion, chemical peels, or laser treatments get rid of wrinkles; what are the risks and benefits of each; and how long do the effects last?
Answer:

Yes. And though the improvements can last many years, they are far from permanent and may have to be repeated at periodic intervals.

Dermabrasion and medium-depth chemical peels have both been used for many years to improve the appearance of superficial wrinkling, eliminate sun-induced pigmentation and keratoses, and to improve the overall surface texture of the skin.

In the past decade, laser resurfacing has become very popular and for the most part has begun to replace the other two procedures because the results are easier to control and predict.

Laser resurfacing, however, is usually more expensive. All three procedures, if done correctly, are relatively safe, although localized scarring and pigment alterations can occur in a small percentage of patients.
