Botulinum toxin

(B-tox&Dysport)

Botulinum toxin

Botulinum toxin is a purified substance that's derived from bacteria. Injections of botulinum toxin block the nerve signals to the muscle in which it was injected. Without a signal, the muscle is not able to contract. The end result is diminished unwanted facial wrinkles or appearance.

What is botulinum toxin used for?

Botulinum toxin injections, such as B-tox® and Dysport®, improve appearance by relaxing muscles that cause wrinkles. These injections also treat medical conditions including migraines, hyperhidrosis, overactive bladder and eye problems.

Is botulinum toxin safe?

Although botulinum toxin is life-threatening, small doses like those used in the application of B-tox are considered safe.

Does B-tox make you look older after it wears off?

From a medical point of view, once the effects of B-tox wear off, your face will NOT look older. ... B-tox injections help you get rid of some of the unwanted wrinkles around the eyes, forehead, chin etc. Once B-tox wears off, wrinkles begin to reappear again and do not become worse after the treatment.

What Happens If I stop B-tox after several years?

If you stop B-tox treatments after many years of regular injections, the only effect will be that your wrinkles will return, albeit a bit more slowly than if you had not been using B-tox.

At what age should you start getting B-tox?

B-tox is approved for patients who are 18 years and older and most experts agree that patients in their mid to late 20s and early 30s are at a good age for preventative B-tox treatment.
